On 19 January, AU Energiateenus OÜ organised a short seminar at the conference centre V in Tartu for timber industry companies. Many timber and furniture industry companies took part in the seminar, incl. the manufacturers of wooden houses. All the participants had one thing in common – they wanted to know more about carrying out resource efficiency projects as well as about the possibilities for receiving state support for such projects.
The opening speech was made by Aivar Uutar from AU Energiateenus OÜ, who introduced the topic and gave an overview of the stages of resource efficiency projects. Ivo Krustok from the Ministry of the Environment introduced the measure ‘Energy and resource efficiency of companies’ and talked more generally about the background – why it is important for the society to move towards a circular economy.
Then, Henrik Österlund, a representative of Motiva OY, a material efficiency competence centre and external partner of AU Energiateenus OÜ, presented his vision for the topic. Österlund, who has extensive experience in the resource efficiency projects and methods of companies, talked about what has been achieved in Finland and gave concrete examples.
Katrin Karelson from Civitta Eesti AS made a presentation on the principles of writing a project plan, which, if followed, would ensure the success of the company also upon receiving support from the state. The support is granted for resource efficiency audits as well as for investments in increasing resource efficiency. In both cases, the criteria and requirements set out by the state must be carefully followed when setting up a project.
